Forklift operator's responsibilities go beyond simply driving a forklift.
1. Operating the Forklift:
* Safe Operation:
Inspecting the forklift before each shift for any damage or malfunctions.
Following all safety procedures and regulations.
Maintaining a safe speed and distance from other vehicles and personnel.
Using appropriate lifting techniques to prevent damage to goods and equipment.
Signaling to other workers to ensure safe movement within the work area.
* Loading and Unloading:
Loading and unloading goods from trucks, trailers, and other vehicles.
Stacking and storing goods in designated areas.
Moving goods within the warehouse or facility.
Picking and placing goods according to specific orders.
* Maintaining the Forklift:
Performing basic maintenance tasks like checking fluid levels and tire pressure.
Reporting any maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Keeping the forklift clean and organized.
2. Warehouse Operations:
* Inventory Management:
Maintaining accurate inventory records.
Identifying and reporting any discrepancies in inventory.
Assisting with stock rotation and inventory control.
* Order Fulfillment:
Picking and packing orders according to customer specifications.
Loading and unloading orders for shipment.
Ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment.
* General Warehouse Tasks:
Assisting with other warehouse tasks as needed, such as cleaning, organizing, and receiving goods.
Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
3. Safety and Compliance:
* Following all safety regulations and procedures.
* Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Reporting any accidents or near misses immediately.
* Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
* Complying with all company policies and procedures.
4. Communication and Teamwork:
* Communicating effectively with supervisors, other operators, and warehouse staff.
* Working as part of a team to achieve common goals.
* Following instructions and completing tasks efficiently.
5. Additional Responsibilities:
* May be required to operate other equipment, such as pallet jacks or reach trucks.
* May be responsible for training new forklift operators.
* May be required to work overtime or on weekends.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Valid forklift operator license or certification.
* Experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
